Worldly Wisdom

worldly wisdomMany seek wisdom through academics, scholarly advice, and news media, which can be helpful resources to obtain information, but it’s not wisdom.

Wisdom comes from God. Clearly God says that wisdom is obtained by receiving His Words, treasuring His commands within our heart and following them, as well as seeking Him through prayer.

Worldly wisdom can be foolish, often an opinion that leads to perverse thinking and actions. We all know people who are book smart or know many facts, but are fools when it comes to relationships and reason.

Never make someone’s intelligence a substitute for the wisdom that God gives through His Word and a relationship through Jesus. When we hunger and thirst for His Word and righteousness, He fills us with wisdom beyond our years and He protects us from evil (Proverbs 2:1-12).

How wise and protected are you?

Promise from God: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously (James 1:5).

Pray with me: Holy and wise God, with all our heart we seek wisdom from you. Thank you that you give generously when we ask. Teach us as we delight in your Word, and surrender to the counsel of the Holy Spirit through a relationship with Christ. Guide and direct our path and give us words to say in our relationships. Help us to be humble in our responses to gain respect. May we make decisions that honor you so we can have your protection in Jesus name. Amen.
